Terms of Service

1. The Service

Scientific Figure (scientificfigure.com) is an AI-powered tool that generates scientific figures — diagrams, schematics, and illustrations — from text descriptions, sketches, and documents you provide. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Underlying AI technology: figures are currently generated using the FLUX family of diffusion models developed by Black Forest Labs. We may add or switch models to improve quality; the model lineup in effect is always disclosed on this page and in the generator's model selector.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.

3. Credits, Plans & Billing

• Figure generation consumes credits. Credit costs per generation are shown before you generate.
• Credits are granted through free signup allowances, one-time purchases, or subscription plans. Purchased and subscription credits may carry an expiration period, which is disclosed at purchase.
• If a generation fails on our side, the credits it consumed are automatically returned to your balance.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel anytime in Settings → Billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep access until then.
• Prices are shown at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

4. Your Content & Output

• Your input (prompts, sketches, uploads) remains yours. You grant us a limited license to process it solely to operate the service.
• Your output: to the extent permitted by law, we assign to you all rights we hold in the figures generated for you. You may use them in publications, presentations, teaching, and commercial work, subject to third-party rights that may apply to material you uploaded.
• You are responsible for ensuring that content you upload does not infringe others' rights (copyright, confidentiality, patient privacy, unpublished data policies of your institution or publisher).

5. Scientific Accuracy Disclaimer

Generated figures are produced by AI and may contain factual, structural, or labeling errors. They are drafts to be verified — not authoritative scientific records. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any figure before including it in a manuscript, grant application, clinical material, or any other work. Scientific Figure is not liable for consequences arising from unverified use of generated content.

6. Acceptable Use

Your use of the service is governed by our Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these terms. In particular, you may not generate or upload: (1) sexual or NSFW content; (2) gratuitous violence or gore; (3) hate speech; (4) any content sexualizing or endangering minors (CSAM — zero tolerance, reported to authorities); (5) deepfakes or impersonation of real people or organizations, including fabricated research data presented as authentic; (6) content infringing copyright or trademarks.

In addition, you may not:

• Probe, overload, scrape, or disrupt the service, or resell access without our written consent;
• Circumvent credit accounting or usage limits.

Enforcement follows the graduated actions described in the Acceptable Use Policy — warning, content removal, suspension, or permanent termination — and violating content may be reported via support@scientificfigure.com.

7. Availability & Changes

We aim for high availability but the service is provided "as is" without uptime guarantees. We may modify features with reasonable notice for material changes. If we discontinue the service entirely, unused paid credits will be refunded pro-rata.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data, or rejected publications.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may terminate accounts for breach of these terms. Sections 4, 5, 8, and 10 survive termination.

10. General

These terms are the entire agreement between you and Scientific Figure regarding the service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on this page at least 14 days before taking effect, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
