Overview

Scientific Figure ("we", "us", "our") operates scientificfigure.com, an AI-powered service that turns text descriptions, sketches, and documents into publication-ready scientific figures. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can exercise your rights. Questions can be sent to support@scientificfigure.com.

Information We Collect

1. Account information — When you sign up we collect your email address and name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google; we never see your Google password.
2. Content you submit — Text prompts, reference images, and documents you upload to generate figures, and the figures the service generates for you. We store these so you can access your generation history.
3. Payment information — Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive the transaction status, the last four digits of your card, and your billing country. Full card numbers never touch our servers.
4. Usage data — Credits consumed, features used, and generation counts, used for billing and abuse prevention.
5. Technical data — IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically for security and performance.
6. Cookies — We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and language preference. We do not use advertising cookies.

How We Use Your Information

• Provide the service: generate figures, maintain your history, track your credit balance.
• Process payments and send transactional email (sign-in links, receipts) via our email provider, Resend.
• Prevent fraud and abuse of the service.
• Respond to support requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your prompts, uploads, or generated figures to train AI models without your explicit consent.

Data Processors

We share data only with the infrastructure providers required to run the service: Stripe (payments), Google (optional sign-in), Resend (transactional email), Cloudflare (hosting and storage), and Neon (database). Each processes data under its own privacy policy and our data-processing agreements.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your account data and generation history are retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing support@scientificfigure.com; we complete deletion within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax or legal compliance.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address above. We respond within 30 days.

Data Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted and credentials are stored encrypted. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take commercially reasonable measures to protect your data.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with an updated revision date at least 14 days before they take effect.
